A pair of acrobats engage the audience in moments of both success and failure in a relationship. They need each other to grow, they fail each other, they fall, get up and carry on, and it isn’t always clear whether they are playing or struggling. Through acrobatic movements, partnering and the use of hand-to-hand techniques in a non-typical fashion, where the woman is on the ground and the man is in the air, the pair bring couples relationships to the stage.
“We want to share with the audience the complexity in mutual relationships at work and in life: the fun moments, the hatred, the love and the quarrels. Despite all these, there is always an attraction and a desire to be with each other, on top of one another and in constant contact. The work “A Couple” enables a view of ourselves as real people alongside our being actors, and opens a door for the audience to enter into our lives. Because of the reversal of roles between us, we had to explore and teach ourselves different techniques to match our special relationship. We derive inspiration from movement, martial arts and rhythm, integrated with static and dynamic acrobatics.
